Starting from the oval to the curve

Christopher Yola. It all started when I planted my first vegetable in a pot and, days after growing into a plant. I really got amazed that I could give a second life to a plant with soil and the stem of the vegetable. Following that experience, I started to get more concerned with gardening and mother nature. I wanted to learn more about nature and how it works.

When I changed to a house with a garden, this was my playing field, and there I planted more vegetables and plants. I could meet the ants, grasshoppers, termites and much more. I remember laying my back on the grass to look up to the sky, watching the clouds and stars. I got mesmerised by what lays behind the skies. My Mother gave me the chance to have science magazines for juniors to get resourced with astrology, biology, physics, maths and much more.

At school, I have the chance to have teachers who could explain the basics of ecology, saying that my generation will be responsible for healing our crumbling world. I grew up with the idea that I would somehow help drive our world into an ecological paradise. Since then, I try my best to acquire knowledge into sustainability, crossing knowledge from different fields into one idea. I have filled my head with ideas and still improve every time I get new knowledge by discussing or reading about it in an article. Those ideas are running in a circle in my head and never come to light. I have so many ideas that I could write a book.

Then came this day when I met Felix Matschie at a small event. He presented the association that he is trying to build since 2017. For me, it was opening to finally put my ideas into paper and then making it happen. Thus, I joined Green Academy Africa to help the next generation in Africa have a better future in their homeland. The project at Yayu Preparatory School touched me because I was thinking about the poor children on the street and suburbs in Luanda, Angola, where I come from. It revolted me, and that I always wished to offer them a new chapter in their life.

From my perspective, Green Academy is a new type of NGO that can translate words into action by helping the necessitated ones with individual solutions to their issues. I am looking forward to our first project being realised. This will help shape a generation connected with nature and yet modern.

Post Scriptum: The title of this Blogpost illustrates the thoughts as oval, with an elliptical movement in my head. Such as the Earth revolves around the Sun, sometimes the thoughts are warm and being improved and then are cold lost into my mind. They may finish in a curve such as a temperature curve, which represented the ideas into action and therefore making it happen.
